Singapore - Happy New Year 2008

Raffles Hotel

Happy New Year!

Another year spins by…in hyper-speed. Christmas flew by with the New Year racing right behind it. Hope you enjoyed your holidays!
And Chinese New Year is just a blink away too.

Fullerton Hotel
Life in Singapore is ideal. We really enjoy living here. The only exception is the humidity. Even when it doesn’t rain, it’s still humid. After Phoenix with its comfortable 10% or less humidity, now we have 90-100%. Oh well, the Garden of Eden was lost a long time ago and Shangri la has not been found yet. Singapore loves to decorate for the holidays and with so many religions all jammed into one small island, we have a bunch of them to celebrate all year long.

Christmas is flooded with lights and sparkles. And lots of tasty Christmas meals are offered everywhere.
Since food is such an important theme and pastime for Singaporeans, we have every kind of cuisine at our fingertips. So I decided to send food pictures to give you an impression of life in Singapore. If you remember, my last update in summer 2006, showed the culinary experience of Japan. Another food loving country!

Steamboat on Beach Road
Street side steamboat (all you can eat, buffet). Hot in palate and hot in a steamy kind of way. But fun to eat with friends. Marian joined us for the culinary adventure. There are numerous squiggly-looking innards in the selection, along with standard identifiable items

Chili Crab, a Singapore Favorite
Black Pepper Crab, another Speciality
Singapore black pepper and chili crab. Messy, but delicious. Chili crab restaurants are all over Singapore, this one is at east coast by the beach with a cool breeze.

Chili Crab all over!
Say Cheese

Here’s one of our favorite places for sunset drinks. Volkmar visiting from New Delhi. On the 71st floor high above downtown Singapore in the Swissôtel. It has 360 degree views.

We wish you all a happy an prosperous 2007
